Suggested Readings
These books all provide additional discussions of the topics covered in the different blog articles. I’ve tried to select both classic texts and newer cutting-edge research. I’ll continually update the suggested titles. You have several options for filtering the suggestions to find the book that is best for you, including
- Categories: The category is the primary (and, in some cases, also secondary) discipline that this book speaks to. Categories include: behavioral economics, political communications, political psychology, political science, and psychology. While most of these books are relevant across categories, I tried to give you an idea of the primary focus.
- For example, a book in the Psychology category might describe the psychology of decision-making in general. While the findings are applicable to political decisions as well, it is not the focus of the book.
- Intended Audience: I’ve included books that should appeal to a variety of audiences. Therefore, I’ve tried to distinguish between books that are primarily aimed at an academic audience from those that are mainly written for wider public consumption. These are just suggestions. In my academic work, I’ve certainly gotten a lot of value from books that are written more for a public audience. Similarly, many non-academic readers will likely learn a lot from some of the more academic titles. However, the level of detail and the writing style will differ between these books.
- Keyword Tags: You may be inspired to search for additional resources after reading a post on a particular topic. The keyword tags filters will help you find books on those specific topics.
- Author: When discussing some of the researchers and politicians in the blog articles, you may have been inspired to learn more about the work of a specific author. You can filter to see if any of their books are suggested here.
